    about me
The Bay Area finally exhaled after waiting 3 years for Bumbalo to complete his debut album. Hundreds of loyals crammed into the Elbo Room in San Francisco, CA for the Album Release Party, starring Bumbalo, Casual (Hieroglyphics), and the entire Collectiv Records Family. The energy of that night marked the release of the most complete and consistent Hip Hop album to come out of California this year. Born in Oakland and bred in Berkeley, California, Bumbalo’s wears the Bay in his style and lyrics. First and foremost, he is a Bay Area rapper, but with a raspy voice, Bumbalo flows a world of words influenced by years of absorbing everything Hip Hop has to offer. Bumbalo’s debut album features appearances from Hip Hop frontrunners and old school legends. Mistah FAB—whose album is set for release this year on Atlantic—and Goldie Gold of The Federation both join Bumbalo on the album’s first single, “Hyphy Cat.” Mike Marshall, who is best known for singing the hook on the anthem, “I Got 5 On It,” lays vocals that take you straight back to the 80’s… in a good way (see “Rumors” by Timex Social Club). Equipto, of the legendary Bored Stiff crew, contributes the voice of a street-minded revolutionary artist. Larry Thomas shines on behalf of New York City on “Watch Out for the Potholes,” while 5th Flow represents the south with class on “Young Fresh Clean Mean.” Without a doubt, the production on this album is what takes it from solid to stand-out. The beat team is anchored by boy-wonder Asa Taccone, whose credits include the Saturday Night Live “D*ck in a Box” skit with Justin Timberlake, and collaborations with Danger Mouse, Cee-Lo, Gift of Gab, and Sarah Jones. Other producers include Nick Johnson, Matt Jocelyn, and Egon Brainparts.
    why i'm a source
I decided to be a source for a couple of reasons. I've always been very into music from a listeners standpoint and now I make my own music, so being a source lets me unleash my tastes on the world. Another reason I became a source is because I told Mucster I would about ten years ago, and proceeded to procrastinate for the whole decade. No, but seriously, I constantly visited this site before I was a source so I feel like I can bring some music to the table that's unique.
