    about me
When I bought my first PC, my intention was to create music in the cheapest way, on my own -- like a one-man-band-in-a-box... So I went on the Internet and got a few freeware music creation tools, and started "creating", at the same time surfing around music label websites checking for inspiration. And what had to happen finally happened : I ended up downloading more perfect songs in a day than I could ever write in a thousand years.
    why i'm a source
I thought I might add something to MP3 4U, especially as regards wayward/forward-thinking French or European pop that might sound interesting to "international ears"...

Three Girl Rumba (Live at the Roxy) by Wire
    pop, rock, post punk
Anybody remembers the song "Connection" by English 90s band Elastica? Well, here's where they nicked the riff from: a perfection of a sketchy song by...  more »
Little Bit of Feel Good (Mochipet Remix) by Jamie Lidell
    electronic, electro, funk, soul
Jamie Lidell is going to play my hometown of Lyon, France, and I can't wait to see him. He's such a twisted talent, melding the...  more »
    Black Cat by Ladytron
    pop, electronic, new wave
The first track from Ladytron's forthcoming album is deliciously dark and cold-wave-ish. The lyrics are not English (Mira Aroyo, one of the group's members, is...  more »
    Hatten Passer by Bjørn Torske
    pop, electronic, house
This is feelgood music, that can light up a dancefloor as well as illuminate a chilly late-winter morning. Intricate polyrhythms, dub echoes, soulful vibes and...  more »
    Oxford Comma by Vampire Weekend
    pop, indie
This is my second post of a Vampire Weekend song. I've fallen in love with the band's poppiness. Everything falls neatly into place, but in...  more »
End Result (Crass cover) by Jeffrey Lewis
    pop, country/folk, alt.country, punk
Lewis beautifully blends folk's acoustic lushness with the vehemence of Crass's anarchistic lyricism. This is potent music, to meditate and drunkenly dance to.  more »

With addition of a live drummer, one of my fave almost unknown darlings of white boy funk has become a (nearly) full-fledged groove machine. Twitchy,...  more »

Witness (1 Hope) by Roots Manuva
    hip hop, UK hip hop
I could write on how "Witness" skitters and pulses with electronic life in the best dub tradition, yet retains a danceable, propulsive groove. I could...  more »
    Naked by Shackleton
    electronic, dub, dub step
"Naked"? I'd rather use "skeletal" to describe this track. A percussive sample rolls on and on, vocals, melodica and thin synth lines echo deeeeeep inside...  more »

Love Makes the World Go Round by Johnny Osbourne feat. Bunny Brown
    reggae/ska, roots
Light in the Attic Records once again unearthed a surprising gem of Kingston-by-way-of-Toronto reggae. Can there be a more stripped-down yet potent sound as that...  more »
It Fit When I Was a Kid (Crystal Castles Remix) by Liars
    pop, electronic, indie, dance
"8-bit terror duo" Crystal Castles have taken Liars' primitivist chanting and propelled it to the dancefloor thanks to cheap percussion and cheaper, droning synths. This...  more »
