Degrassi Theme 1
by Andrew Vincent & The Pirates
, , ,

simplejonny says: A Canadian TV classic's theme gets a new life on this track. Herein almost all semblance to the original we here up north all grew up with is stripped away. The guitars have a country-ish twang and Andrew Vincent's voice is raw and heartfelt, making the anxieties of the new Degrassi student feel valid, and the promise of new friends, and the ability for all to succeed make Degrassi sound like it really is the haven we remember it to be. If you never knew the TV show, you can still love this song, and even if you love the show this version of the theme can be hard to peg, but knowing that just makes it that much better for us Degrassi-ites.
