He_Is_Me says:Had he recorded his songs in a L.A., 64-plus-track studio in 1986, Ariel Pink could have been Prince... or Bryan Adams(?!)... or Cher (!??!). But he only has a 8-track audiotape thing, so he has to bounce all his sounds on one or two channels to have room for more tracks. This is obviously a limitation to his musical possibilities, yet he manages to produce a driving, funny piece of odd modern pop, the tape distortion adding a lovely garage-rock sheen to his guitar work and vocal efforts.
