Katie Cruel
by Karen Dalton
,

Recognize says: Karen Dalton is one of those artists who has become more famous after her death. She had been admired by many folk musicians for decades—-Bob Dylan considered her a muse, but the general public has only recently caught onto this mysterious woman who sang folk with a voice like Nina Simone. She only sang covers, which she transformed into her own creations. "Katie Cruel" is off of Karen's only planned studio release In My Own Time, which just recently came out on CD.
