Apocalypse Dude says:More than any other band I can think of, Exploding Hearts embodied the rock and roll roots of punk and new wave music, all the way to the rolling bass lines and Pavlovian tamborine. On "Making Teenage Faces" they close the school, start the party and kill the principal but it's all in fun. Complete with glorious major key changes a'la Phil Spector and a perfect, sneering pop vocal, this truly is a classic song. I wish I could tell you the X<3's were still around. Their last show was in San Francisco and they crashed their van on the way back to their home up north. An unspeakable tragedy that ended a hugely promising band. Rest in peace, punx, you are loved, and so fondly remembered.
