General Progress
by Space Heater
, ,

Din says: Popped into Jupiter last night on a hunch, and as I have come to expect at this venue, was greeted by a highly entertaining and musically innovative jazz combo. Space Heater, featuring the compositions of young reeds man Evan Francis and bassist Billy Mitsako, weaved a seamless mash up of jazz and instrumental hip hop that got sicker and sicker with every turn. Joining Evan on sax was one Marcus Stephans, who just blew doors off the place. But possibly the most jaw dropping moment was when their DJ did an amazing bit of turntablism as they closed their first set with this piece, "General Progress." I was pleased to find a recorded version of the song this morning at their myspace. Enjoy.
