Reactance (studio version)
by Jeanne Geiger
, Big Band

Din says: Who writes original big band music anymore, outside of the movie soundtrack business? Apparently, more composers than one might expect. Jeanne Geiger and some of her jazz virtuoso buddies have formed a sort of collective to record new charts written by the individuals in the group. These are players who do sessions and gigs with the top names in jazz, gathered in front of two mics, layin' it down live. Reactance was Jeanne's final piece for her masters degree, and she wanted to have a tight recording of it for posterity. Here it is, and it is gorgeous.
