He, along with his equally gifted wife Memphis Minnie, were key players in the blooming Chicago music scene of the 1930's, and he continued to record and play music up until his untimely death in 1950. His songs have been covered by numerous popular musicians, such as Bob Dylan and John Cougar Mellencamp.
