Electric Counterpoint
by Steve Reich
,

High Brow says: I used to turn my nose on Steve Reich and his unkempt lot of classical composers who pioneered the minimal style of composition. I used to think they were lazy, incompetent, or just plain dumb. But as I let more of Steve Reich's compositions wash over me, I begin to understand that although his work lacks sweeping and dramatic symphonic elements, each note is carefully analyzed and no detail is overlooked. This kind of attention to detail is found in all great works of art.
