Public Domain 4U says:Memphis Minnie ranks as one of the blues' most influential and historically significant female artists. Sometime during her early teens she began playing and singing on Memphis street corners and eventually joined Ringling Brothers Circus. During the 1920s she settled into Memphis's Beale Street blues scene, accompanied by guitarist Kansas Joe McCoy. It's easy to hear her influence in modern music. Found at PublicDomain4u.com
